A driving force behind the Revolutionary War and the final split from Great Britain was the influence of religion. The conflict went beyond the desire to worship freely. Look into the window of 18th century colonial religion and examine many of the misconceptions about the role of faith in the lives of our Founding Fathers. The book The Faith of Our Fathers (Fall River Press) by Alf. J. Mapp, Jr. will provide a text for the study. Text should be purchased on your own prior to class.
