Experiment with a new, growing media for arts and crafts - alcohol inks. Learn to use this fun, fluid medium that uses intensely bright dyes on a non-porous surface. Projects include one abstract of impressionistic image on Yupo paper and a decorative wine bottle. No experience required. Bring a protective apron or smock as inks can stain.
Love art and being creative, but not sure what media works best for you? Come create and experiment with a little smorgasbord or art sampler. Create a collage, a felt (wool needle work) work, a few drawings, and even paintings. Novice or experienced artists can learn some new techniques and tricks. Go outside your comfort zone and try something new.
Learn Raku, the ancient Japanese style of firing pottery. Pieces can be made on the potter's wheel or by hand-building. Participate in the firing process and leave with your finished work at the end of the firing day. Work at the potter's wheel in the HCC ceramics studio and learn the fundamentals of throwing clay. After creating various forms, learn to bisque-fire, and then how to glaze the finished product. Bring a bucket, sponge, and towel. Pottery tools may be purchased at the College Store.
Investigate a new drawing medium with pen and ink. Practice mix media drawing with a variety of wet mediums and learn different techniques in shading, texture, depth and value.
