A challenging 45-minute workout with a mixed format of cardio endurance exercises, strength building moves and high intensity interval training (HIIT) methods designed to leave you feeling accomplished, challenged and ready to hit the beach looking and feeling better than ever. Various equipment will be used. Modifications will be given. All levels are welcome.
Beginner Mat Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core while also targeting arms and legs. Mat Pilates is an exceptional workout that uses one's own body weight to strengthen and tone all the different muscle groups. Learn new stretches and proper posture to help develop those muscles. Remember to wear comfortable cloths and bring a water bottle. Mats and foam rollers will be provided and will be sanitized after every use. Little or no prior knowledge of Pilates is needed.
Not just a bike class! This class will incorporate indoor cycling with mixed terrain format along with athletic and strength conditioning moves off the bike for a complete workout. Class will begin in the cycle room and end in the gym. Are you up for the challenge?
Join others who love the Bay and want to learn more! This will be a fun and fact filled paddle along the shores of Havre de Grace. Paddle one of our kayaks while looking for birds and mammals as well as hear about the human history of this northern shore of the Chesapeake.
Dave Correll, Head PGA Professional at Ruggles Golf Course, and Rik Bond, PGA Director of Golf at Aberdeen Proving Ground, have years of teaching and playing experience to help you learn and develop your golf game.
Basic fundamentals will be covered such as grip, posture, stance and alignment. Also, etiquette, terminology, and different shot techniques will be covered including full swing, pitching, chipping, putting, and bunker play.
Most importantly, students will learn skills that will help them enjoy the game of golf - from making a tee time to keeping pace and selecting the correct equipment.
All class sessions will be held at Ruggles Golf Course located outside the gate of Aberdeen Proving Ground. Ruggles is an 18-hole championship golf course with many amenities including one of the finest grass practice ranges in the area as well as a fully-stocked shop and dining facility.
If you have ever looked at people having fun on a stand up paddle board and thought about giving it a try, this course is for you! We will cover the basics; how to get on your board, fall off and get back on again, as well as simple SUP strokes and other tips for your first outing. NOTE: All gear and basic paddle and safety instruction will be provided before launch. Class is weather permitting.
Learn about coastal sedimentation along the Chesapeake Bay as well as the geological process that shape our landscape. Learn how geology impacts the region's diversity of plants, wildlife, and urban development. We'll discuss fossils, take sediment core samples, and learn about geologic periods that the Bay covers while enjoying the sights from the water. Preferred intermediate experience as the trip is longer in duration, covering a larger stretch of the Bay. This program is offered for a shorter duration without sediment core sampling.

Join the Environmental Center at the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum to find out about the historical uses of the Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River as we explore historical sites via the water. As we explore the Bay, learn how the historical waterway has changed and evolved to current modern modes of transportation and recreation. This trip highlights the emphasis that our city puts on the water and sites that were used in historical times such as the Concord Point Lighthouse, Tidewater Marina, Lock House Museum, and the Decoy Museum.

Learn about the rich semi-aquatic vegetation (SAV) that can be found in the Bay that gives a bountiful food source to wildlife and helps protect the Bay from contaminants and tidal action. Learn about basic identification of the plants and locations of the SAV's while learning how to survey and map out plant beds.

Avoid the heat of the summer days by setting out on the Chesapeake Bay and Lower Susquehanna Flats by joining us for an early morning paddle.

Enjoy nature and have fun while hiking on flat rail trails to steep woodland terrain in Harford, Cecil, and Baltimore counties. Hikes are 5-6 miles at a moderate pace for up to 3.5 hours including a lunch break.

Pickleball is best described as a combination of badminton and tennis. Players will be able to show up and play. This is a "pick-Up" format, no instruction available. This course will be held indoor and beginner equipment will be available for use.
Pumped Up! is a barbell-based, strength building workout that's specifically designed to help you get lean, toned, and fit. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition you'll achieve a full body workout set to motivating music. You will leave class feeling challenged, motivated, and strong!
Rape Aggression Defense is a proven method that provides women with realistically employed self-defense tactics to protect and defend themselves from physical attack. You will learn important life skills to stay safe in threatening or harmful environments. Ideal for high school seniors to senior citizens.
Senior adults, as well as those who are medically referred, will learn the value of exercise in the water as a helpful tool for fitness and health and in reducing illness and physical concerns. Improve your levels of cardiovascular fitness and range of motion. Senior adult and disabled waivers apply.
Switch up your routine! Give Tabata a try! A high intensity interval training (H.I.I.T.) workout incorporating a basic 20 seconds of work followed by 10 second of rest method. Fast and versatile, burns fat and raises your metabolism. Tabata improves endurance and produces results.
Experience general level classes in the Wu Dong style of Tai Chi Chuan. Each class will start with a warm up designed to strengthen and stretch the body, followed by short exercises in Qi Gong. These exercises help to develop the deeper meditative side of Tai Chi. Footwork, balance, and coordination are developed by practicing the four basic stances of Chinese martial arts and the practice of walking Qi Gong. Will also do work with the form and push hands.
This class is for anyone wishing to explore yoga for the first time or those who simply desire the benefit of practicing basic yoga poses to create a well balanced mind and body. Students will be guided in a step by step method linking yoga poses (asanas) to breath (pranayama). Every class will begin with a warm up including breathing techniques, Sun or Moon Salutations, followed by poses to strengthen, balance and relax specific areas of the body, ending with meditation. Yoga props, blocks/belts will be provided. Please bring a mat and a towel.
Zumba combines high-energy, motivating Latin and international music with unique moves and combinations that allow you to dance away your worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO" to achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is great for the body and mind. It is a feel-happy workout. Zumba creates a party-like atmosphere! Be prepared to sweat!
