Create a steppingstone paver for your garden using broken ceramic tile/glass. Students will bring a concrete paver (e.g. 12 x 12) or two regular sized bricks to class (can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe’s). All other supplies will be provided.
Students will learn how to create simple project/garment by using a sewing pattern as well as discuss fabric choices, thread and other items required for the project.
Students will learn about sewing machine basics: threading, bobbin winding and use, how to change a needle, needle sizes, use of pins on fabric, thread types as well as many tips and tricks.
Design and create at least three glass projects. Learn the history and techniques of glass cutting, soldering, and copper foiling. Students should wait until first class session to know what supplies are needed. Students are responsible for cost of supplies over and above the course fees. Note there are safety precautions to keep in mind for this course due to glass residue, use of lead solder, dust, and fumes, and chemicals used in some processes. If you have any health concerns, please consult your physician before registering.

Expand your craftsmanship skills in the gourd club. The club meets the last Wednesday of the month from 6-9 p.m. in Joppa Hall. Meeting dates subject to change so provide an email when registering. Location confirmed by email.
Learn to overlay vinyl cutout designs to give the illusion of depth gourds. During class, you will explore the characteristics of alcohol inks, metallics, alcohol pearls, and experiment with the advantages of base coating the gourd with Artisan dyes. Each participant will leave with a complete vinyl masked and alcohol inked bowl.

Explore new materials as you learn to weave on the outside of a gourd. By combining different textures and colors each person will create their own unique functional woven vase. Techniques will include twining, three-rod wale, undulating waves, and a tighter rim. Create a woven vase as the final product to take home at the end of class.
